INDIAN PILGRIMAGE
Join Nath Yoga Ashram for a spiritual journey into the heart of India, the Ancient Temples that still pulse and breathe with devotion, some of which have been performing the same rituals daily for 1500 years. The beginning of the adventure will take us to the Planetary Temples (Navagraha) of Tamil Nadu, along with some other well-known and not-so-well-known temples in and around the Kaveri Delta. We’ll travel via the van and stay at rural India’s loveliest and cosiest hotels. Some will be Westernized and posh, while some areas will have more modest accommodations.
Following our Temple experiences, we’ll journey to Kerala on foot to explore the majestic Western Ghats. Guided by a local expert, we’ll traverse trails where wild elephants roam and immerse ourselves in the native flora and fauna. These walks, punctuated by moments of silence to respect the wildlife, will offer a serene and peaceful experience.
Our journey is not just a vacation but a transformative pilgrimage into the heart of Sanatana Dharma and Satsang. By approaching this adventure with an open heart and few expectations, you open yourself to a profound reality experience. Authentic participation in this journey can lead to personal growth, release, and widespread healing, inspiring a hopeful and transformative outlook.
Another thread of focus will be Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion) and a few of the ways people approach devotion in India, such as through Vishnu, Shiva, Devi (Goddess), and the Planets (Navagraha). We’ll visit a temple for each planet, and we’ll be able to visit some Birthstar (Nakshatra) Temples as well. A one-hour Vedic Astrology session is complimentary once you’ve registered. If you live out of town, we can do the consultation over the phone. If the session interests you, you must schedule a time with Allison by November 1st. Otherwise, she may be booked through 2018 and unable to accommodate. There won’t be time for readings while in India.
The Temple Tour is designed to provide a heart-centred and potentially transformative experience rather than a tour focused on the history and architecture of the Temples. While we won’t delve into the historical details, Allison will share the mythological stories associated with each Temple. She can guide us through some of the mantras, pujas, and rituals we’ll experience. You’ll sometimes be asked to maintain silence in the Temples, allowing for a more inward and personally meaningful experience.
